The Project
In the Netherlands and Belgium we send birth announcements because it is a tradition. Nowhere are so many birth announcements sent as with us. About 95% of the parents send a birth announcement by post. The tradition of birth announcements is not very old. It has only been common practice to send birth announcements since 1950. Birth certificates were sent before that.
